About me

Welcome to my journey! My name is Tajia Rodriguez, and I was born with Cerebral Palsy. Throughout the years, I have learned to embrace my disability and be proud of the person God has called me to be! My disability may be the reason I accomplish tasks differently, but it definitely does not stop me from exceeding my goals.

What is cerebral palsy?

Cerebral Palsy is a physical disability that is caused by brain damage (before or during birth) that affects body movements and muscle coordination. There’s no cure for cerebral palsy, but physical, occupational, aquatic, and speech therapy can help those with CP grow stronger and improve their motor, physical, and social skills. Cerebral Palsy is NOT a disease; it’s a disability! People with Cerebral Palsy can live normal, happy, healthy, successful lives. Some might face more challenges than others, and that’s perfectly fine because we embrace life as it is.

Why I Share My Journey?

Raise awareness: It’s really important to me to educate and inform people about cerebral palsy to have a positive impact on educating them with knowledge on acceptance and empathy towards individuals with disabilities.

Connect with others: I want to connect with individuals with disabilities to offer encouragement and spread hope and love to those that may feel excluded from life because of their disability. I want my journey to be a source of light and hope in the paths of those who may not seem to see the light during their difficult times.

What inspired me to write this book?

My childhood challenges is what motivated me to write this book. Growing up with cerebral palsy I often felt left out at school and struggled to fit in with my peers. Now as a young adult, I strive to create a more inclusive and accepting world.

During recess, students are free to go out and play with their peers but for children with disabilities, recess can lead to loneliness and sadness. We are often left out because kids don’t know how to include us. There were many times where I sat by myself in a corner at recess just watching my classmates run around and play together. I felt so heartbroken, I wanted to fit in!! No child should ever feel this way. That’s what inspired me to write Rolling Into Kindergarten!! My book helps kids overcome these types of challenges and teaches them to never feel less of themselves. While reading my book teachers, parents, and caregivers will get ideas on how to include children with disabilities in physical activities with other children. All kids deserve to play, have fun, and be included!!

My favorite Bible verses

“I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS ME.” – Philippians 4:13
This verse right here is what keeps me going daily! It is through God that I find the strength and confidence to chase after my dreams! We must remember that with God anything is possible! We can do all things through Him!!

“FOR I KNOW THE PLANS I HAVE FOR YOU, DECLARES THE LORD, PLANS TO PROSPER YOU AND NOT HARM YOU, PLANS TO GIVE YOU A HOPE AND A FUTURE.” – Jeremiah 29:11
Living with a disability isn’t always easy, and it certainly does come with its challenges, but this verse always renews my strength and fills me with so much hope! It is in Jeremiah 29:11 where we are reminded that God has a purpose for all of us! We must trust in the plans he has for our lives and let ourselves be moved by him.

My Plan

I would love to start visiting schools, pediatric therapy centers, and children’s hospitals to read my book and share my journey. These are the places where children and their families need the most inspiration and hope. I want to be a role model for all kiddos especially those with cerebral palsy and inspire them to dream big & never give up!

Thank you to everyone for all the love and support throughout my journey, Thank you for inspiring me to bring this book to life!!

I wish everyone could read my book and get inspired by it!!

Thank You!

Your support helps me continue to share my story and inspire others, especially children and families who need it most. With your help, I’m one step closer to visiting schools, therapy centers, and hospitals places where hope and inspiration can truly make a difference. I’m so grateful for your love and belief in this mission. Together, we’re empowering others to dream big and never give up!
